Unique performance in History, up to 16 participants at U19 JWC 2012 |

The deadline is closed and the tournament is full. For the first time in the history of the Junior World Cup Under 19, 16 participants: 15 countries and JTT North, inaugurate the tournament Thursday, April 5 2012 during the spectacular opening.
The next days, 6th - 8th of April, the successful three-day tournament will be held in the Topsporthal and sports center of Leek.

Het officieuze wereldkampioenschap korfbal voor junioren onder 19 jaar, het U19 JWC, vindt rond de Paasdagen (5 t/m 8 april 2012) opnieuw plaats in de Topsporthal te Leek. De drie gemeentelijke clubs bundelen al hun krachten om dit evenement net als in 2011 tot een succes te maken.
Aan het U19 JWC korfball nemen de sterkste juniorenteams vanuit de hele wereld deel. Meer dan honderd vrijwilligers zijn nodig om het driedaagse toernooi, dat start op Goede Vrijdag, in goede banen te leiden. De donderdagavond voor het toernooi zal de opening plaatsvinden in de Topsporthal in Leek. Naar verwachting zullen in totaal zo’n 3 tot 4.000 toeschouwers getuige zijn van fraaie staaltjes korfbal in een prima entourage.
De 17de editie van het officieuze wereldkampioenschap korfbal voor jeugdlandenteams tot 19 jaar, mag zich verheugen in een grote belangstelling. Tot nu toe schreven elf landen in voor dit prestigieuze toernooi dat in het paasweekeinde van 5 tot en met 8 april in Leek wordt gehouden. Daaronder is voor het eerst het nationale team van China. Nieuwkomers tot nu toe zijn ook Servië en Wit Rusland. Tot het deelnemersveld horen ook de wereldtop met landen als Nederland, België, Taiwan, Engeland en Duitsland. De deelname van China komt niet helemaal als een verrassing. Eind 2011 vonden in China de wereldkampioenschappen korfbal plaats en de sport ontwikkelt zich er stormachtig. De deelname van zeker drie nieuwe landen onderstreept de positieve ontwikkeling van korfbal internationaal. Over enkele weken sluit de inschrijving. De organisatoren rekenen er op, dat het aantal deelnemende landen nog verder zal toenemen. Er kunnen maximaal zestien landen mee doen.
Voor de organisatie tekenen OWK – Oostwold, Rodenburg – Leek/Tolbert en Sparta – Zevenhuizen.
Aan enthousiasme ontbreekt het de organisatie niet, getuige de fraaie website www.u19jwc.com.

Final Day: Holland Number 1 |

Championship holder Holland also won the 16th edition of U19 JWC. In a packed Topsport centrum in Leek, Holland won the final against Belgium convincingly with 24-12. They took revenge for the lost game at the Euro Top 4 tournament in Deurne with 24-22. Belgium had reached the final by beating England with 17-4. Holland had won by 20-14 from Chinese Taipei, which now had to play for the 3th place. They were supreme against England 21-11.
Holland took a five score lead early on in their game against Belgium (8-3) and at the break had a good lead of 13-6. During the second half there was not much of competition left. Belgium missed out on chances just after the break, and both teams made use of a lot of substitutes. Through 19-7, and 22-10, Holland beat Belgium with 24-12.
The young Portuguese referee, Isabel Almeida, did a very good job leading this final, assisted by Polish Maciek Golawskizich.
Germany took the 5th place, in an exciting game against Russia 14-12.. Catalonia and Poland were very close in their game about the 7th and 8th place. After the normal game time the score was 10-10, so the golden goal decided the 7th place to be for Catalonia. Slovakia ended up being last, losing to Hungary with 13-6.
Ya-wen Lin, from Chinese Taipei, was the most scoring female, 37 goals. Her teammate Me- Hsuan Lin scored 21 goals and Barbara Brouwer from the Netherlands scored 17 goals.
Of the male players, Russian Dimitri Petrukhin scored 28 goals, 2 more than Belgium player Dennis de Vogelaere. Tim van den Berg, from the Dutch team scored 20 goals. |
