The first round of u19jwc was full of surprises. Catalonia started very strong by securing their final score already during half time, by taking a lead of 12-0. The final score of 23-2 did not need any further explanation and spoke for itself.
The Junior Talent Team East didn't have any difficulties competing against the colorful South African team.
During half time the score was 8-0 and it was obvious that the team, who was assigned to the tournament just days before the opening ceremony, was to strong. With a final score of 21-2 the difference between the two teams couldn't have been more obvious.
Portugal-England was a sensational game. The young Portuguese teams showed itself in a spectacular way and beat the reputable, experienced English team, final score 18-11.
Television weatherman: Piet Paulusma at the U19 JWC in Leek

Not only the world is coming to the U19 JWC in Leek... NO, Netherlands's most famous weatherman Piet Paulusma is also present at the spectacular opening of the U19 JWC on Thursday, April 1.
Also want some sports and music? Come to the opening. It starts Thursday, April 1 at 19:00 in the sportscentre of Leek.
Feel the atmosphere from your couch? Turn the TV on SBS 6 and watch the early edition of "Hart van Nederland"(19:00 - 19:20) which will show some fragments of the U19 JWC.

U19 JWC has started

After months of preparation, the teams of the countries competing in the u19jwc could be welcomed on Thursday in the sports centre in Leek. First training sessions proceeded quickly, during which Portugal, South Africa, Chinese Taipei took full advantage of het facilities of the sports centre. At 12 o'clock sharp all volunteers started with the preparations of decorating the hall, all flags and commercial banners were put in the right places and everything was prepared for a spectacular opening ceremony that evening.
From 17.30 on, it was very busy in the sports centre, all teams gathered for a team photo, and in the meantime the famous Dutch weather reporter Piet Paulusma arrived to do his daily tv weather forecast live on location from the u19jwc.
For all players, coaches, sponsors, committee members, volunteers, host families and members of the three organizing associations Sparta, Rodenburg and OWK we have organized on the second day of the U19 JWC 2010 a spectacular and surprising party.

These days almost everybody has a telephone capable of making pictures or shoot videos. This is why the organization of the U19 JWC 2010 challenge visitors, players and host families to create fun and/or informative videos of the tournament and everything surrounding it.
So, are you our new reporter?

The funniest and best video will be rewarded after the tournament with a great prize!
During the tournament in the press centre (next to the bar in the canteen of the tournament hall) there will be facilities to upload the videos and pictures by visitors, players, volunteers and host families.
