The three korfball teams in Leek are going to work together to promote korfball. The teams of OWK (Oostwold), Rodenburg (Leek/Tolbert) and Sparta (Zevenhuizen) will cooperate under the umbrella of the Korfball Support foundation Leek. During the draw for the U19 JWC 2010 on the 8th February 2010 the new foundation officially presented itself. This for Korfball entirely new concept will improve the image of the sport through the organization of tournaments, clinics and support for similar initiatives in the North of the country.
The first action will be the organization of the official world championship for youth teams under 19 years, the U19 Junior World Cup 2010.

Clinics have also started on the RSG De Borgen in Leek and the selection of school teams that will participate in the Mission Olympic 2010. On the 1st April as part of the opening of the JWC 2010 there will be a major school korfball tournament for all BO-schools in the district of Leek. In Groningen on the 17th February there will be a clinic as part of the “children for sick children”project. The new foundation is an answer to the call by the korfball union to grow the sport in reach and quality.
