After the big success in 2010 the unofficial world championships for korfball players under 19 years of age will be held in the Topsport centrum again this year. The event will be in the Easter weekend, from the 21 till the 24 of April 2011. The tournament will be organized by the three korfballclubs in the municipality of Leek, these are ‘Sparta’, ‘OWK’ and ‘Rodenburg’, together with the ‘International Korfball Federation’ (IKF) and ‘District werkgroep internationaal korbal’ of the North District of the Dutch Korball association.

The organization has several groups:

• Sponsorship: sponsor plans, sponsors / advertisers, suppliers of products and services, communication (external) Finance: budget, grants, cost control, accountability and ticket sales
• Competition & Facilities: match formalities, game schedule, officials table, shot clock, award ceremony, floor preparation, bleachers, catering, furnishings and interior halls and dressing rooms, control, parking and directions, and logistics
• Contestants: housing, supervision, contact with organizations and countries, transport and ambassadors
• Side events and entertainment: opening, closing / award ceremony, clinics etc, party evening
• Communications: website, tournament booklet, press, internet café, ICT, PR
• Volunteers: planning, supervision and coordination

The preparations have been ongoing since the summer holidays and since last September the sponsoring group has been hard at work and has gained several accoplisments. The main sponsors of last year have already signed up for the 2011 tournament. All the other groups have also started their preparations and still need volunteers to help them out.

The club members are also asked to help during the tournament, the players of different countries need a place to stay. Also, people are needed for the tournament itself, so keep the dates open in your planner.
