World top present at 17th semi official World Cup korfball for national youth teams |

Everybody who wants to see top korfball at world class level, has to visit the U19 Junior World Cup in the Sports centre of Leek, near Groningen starting Friday, April 6.
Besides title holder Holland, Belgium, Chinese Taipei, England and Germany belong to the top as well. In addition the national youth teams of Russia, the Czech republic, Poland, Hungary, Portugal and Serbia join in as well.
As part of developing talents, the talent teams of district North and East of Holland and a regional team of the province of Groningen, are also present.
The official opening of the U19JWC is Thursday evening at 19.00 hours. And not only the competing teams are present. The matches start at 9.00 hours at Friday, Saturday at 9.30 hours and Sunday at 9.00 hours. The group matches are on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday the semi finals and final. The match for the third and fourth place is scheduled at 15.30 and the final for16.50 at Sunday.
If you want to visit the tournament for several days in a row, it is advised to buy a pass partout ticket, costs 10 euro for adults and 5 euro up to 18 years. Single day tickets are 5 and 3 euro respectively.

A record of 15 countries from all over the world have entered the 17th U19 Junior World Cup 2012 in Leek (NED). This semi-official international korfball tournament for players under 19 again will be held in Sports Centre Leek from 5 – 8 April 2012 and is patronised by International Korfball Federation (IKF). For the very first time China, Serbia and Belarus are among competing nations. The Junior Talent Team of Dutch District North complete the number of competitors. This teams is playing out of competition.
For the first day, the 16 teams will battle for rankings in four pools, playing three games each. On the last day teams after semi-finals will play their last game to determine their final placing in the tournament. Winners of 2011 tournament were the Netherlands, followed by Belgium.
The drawing of lots resulted in the following groupings:
Group A: Chinese Taipei, Catalonia, Romania and China;
Group B: Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic and Serbia;
Group C: England, Hungary, Russia and Belarus;
Group D: Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and JTT North.

The semi-official world cup korfball for juniors under 19, the U19JWC, will once again take place in Leek at Easter. The three local clubs are combining all their forces to make this event a success just like in 2010. Two head sponsors recently signed contracts with the Korfball Support Leek Foundation. These are MW Bedrijfskleding (professional clothing and costumes) and Unive Noord-Nederland.
The U19 JWC will see the strongest junior teams from around the world compete. Over 100 volunteers are needed to successfully organise the three day tournament that starts on Good Friday. The Thursday night before the tournament the offical opening will take place in the Topsporthal in Leek. Some 3,000 to 4,000 spectators are expected to wtiness some wonderful korfball in a great atmosphere.
This past week the draw under supervision of the KNKV, represented by Geert Keuning and Jacob Jonker, took place of the no less than 16 competing teams. China, Serbia and Belarus are participating for the first time in the World Cup in Leek. The draw was carried out by Martijn Buitenhuis on behalf of head sponsor MW Bedrijfskleding and Harry Weitering for head sponsor Unive.
Buitenhuis and Weitering created a draw where current champions The Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and the JTT North are all-in one poule. Of special note was the draw for poule A where Cinese Taipei, the revelation of the tournament two years ago, was combined with China, Romania and Catalonia.
There is no lack of enthusiasme in the organisers as the website clearly shows!

The semi-official worldchampionship korfbal for junios under 19, the U19JWC, will once again take place at Easter (5 – 8 April 2012) at the Topsporthal in Leek. The three local clubs are combining forces t make this event a success just like in 2011.
The best teams from around the world will compete in the U19 JWC. Over a hundred volunteers will be needed to successfully complete the three day tournament that kicks off on Good Friday. The Thursday night before the tournamen twill see the official opening ceremony in the Topsporthal in Leek. 3 to 4,000 people are expected to witness some excellent korfbal in a great atmosphere.
The 17 Edition oft he semi-official worldchampionships korfbal for junior country teams under 19 is basking in great interest. So far eleven countries have confirmed their registration for this prestigious tournament to be held at the Easter weekend from 5- 8 April in Leek. Amongst the competing team fort he first time the national team of China. Other first time particiapants are Serbia and Belarus.
Part of the field of competitors are also the world best teams with countries like The Netherlands, Belgium, Taiwan, England and Germany. The participation of China is not a complete surprise. At the end of 2011 the worldchampionships korfbal took place in China and the sports is going through a fast growth phase there. The participation of at least three new countries underlines the positive development of korfbal internationally. In a few weeks the registration will close. The organisers are expecting more teams to register before the deadline. There is a maximum field of sixteen countries that can compete.
Organising are OWK – Oostwold, Rodenburg – Leek/Tolbert and Sparta – Zevenhuizen.
