Press Release 8th januari 2012 The semi-official worldchampionship korfbal for junios under 19, the U19JWC, will once again take place at Easter (5 – 8 April 2012) at the Topsporthal in Leek. The three local clubs are combining forces t make this event a success just like in 2011. The best teams from around the world will compete in the U19 JWC. Over a hundred volunteers will be needed to successfully complete the three day tournament that kicks off on Good Friday. The Thursday night before the tournamen twill see the official opening ceremony in the Topsporthal in Leek. 3 to 4,000 people are expected to witness some excellent korfbal in a great atmosphere. The 17 Edition oft he semi-official worldchampionships korfbal for junior country teams under 19 is basking in great interest. So far eleven countries have confirmed their registration for this prestigious tournament to be held at the Easter weekend from 5- 8 April in Leek. Amongst the competing team fort he first time the national team of China. Other first time particiapants are Serbia and Belarus. Part of the field of competitors are also the world best teams with countries like The Netherlands, Belgium, Taiwan, England and Germany. The participation of China is not a complete surprise. At the end of 2011 the worldchampionships korfbal took place in China and the sports is going through a fast growth phase there. The participation of at least three new countries underlines the positive development of korfbal internationally. In a few weeks the registration will close. The organisers are expecting more teams to register before the deadline. There is a maximum field of sixteen countries that can compete.
